Running toward Fate

Running toward FateI’ve been hard at work on the next book in my Journeys Fiction series – Running toward Fate.

Fate plays a big part in each of the stories in this series, so I am putting Fate in each of the titles. I’m particularly excited about this book because it is based on a true story – the story of how two of my friends met in the most improbable way.

I’ve modernized the story. They actually met close to 20 years ago, but my book takes place in 2014, so I’ve added in modern conveniences like cell phones, email, skype, iPods, and more.

In addition to modernizing the story, I’ve changed the characters substantially. I changed their professions, nationality of the man, their looks. So to be blunt, the only thing that I’ve kept true is the absolutely incredible way that they met. If you read the book, you’ll think they could never have met this way in real life. But they did. As Mark Twain once said, “Truth is stranger than fiction.”

I remember when I first heard the story. After I got over my utter amazement, I thought it needed to be made into a book. So I’ve finally done that.

It’s not live on Amazon yet, but will be shortly. I’m hoping to publish it in just a few hours – at the latest, tomorrow. If you want to be notified when it’s live on Amazon, click here and sign up.

I have planned six or seven books for this series which I’m calling Journeys Fiction. A large part of each one of these books takes place in Indonesia. I realize that most people reading this book may never visit Indonesia, so a good friend of mine who just happens to be a photographer has made a beautiful ebook called Indonesian Expression, which contains 72 gorgeous photos of Indonesia.

When you sign up to get notifications about my new books being released, I’ll also give you a free copy of the beautiful photo ebook Indonesian Expression. To sign up, just click here.

About Kate Benzin

I am a seasoned traveler and tour director who has lived on the island of Java since 1982. Java became my home when I took a 3-month work assignment to train Indonesians on word processing equipment in Jakarta, and I fell in love with the adventurous lifestyle that I found here. So I stayed and taught English for many years. When I needed a change in my work life, I became a tour director for an upscale American tour operator for 18 years in many countries of the world. Tour directing was very rewarding and provided me with lots of material for my latest career - writing. If you've been on tour with me, don't worry, I'm not writing about any of the wonderful guests from my tours. I now spend most of my time writing in my home/office in Yogyakarta, Central Java, which I share with my four Dalmatians and a whippet.
